"LICADD is grateful to the Townwide Fund for responding to our request to help address the dramatic impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of adolescents and their families. Funds from the Townwide Fund will provide direct services to students, educators, school-based healthcare providers and parents in the Town of Huntington through LICADD’s Students Assistance Program (SAP). With this assistance from the Fund, SAP will be able to help vulnerable at-risk adolescents in Huntington feel empowered to make healthier choices surrounding substance use while integrating healthy coping strategies for stress, anxiety, fear, and grief. Access to LICADD’s support services will encourage adolescents to become resilient and to develop effective strategies to overcome obstacles to their academic goals. LICADD will provide Professional Presentations on topics including substance use prevention, stress reduction, wellness strategies, vaping, and compassion fatigue/burnout prevention. As we continue to weather the storm of the pandemic together, LICADD encourages all Huntington Town residents to utilize their full range of services to address stress management, coping strategies, anxiety, school stress, anger management, and other mental health and substance use concerns."
